Child Stroke Parent to Parent
Support Group
Royal Children's Hospital, Melbourne
What we do
-
We provide a range of ways for parents to contact and support one another
- We provide simple information to parents about their child's illness, and about hospital
procedures
- We provide a link with other support groups and services
- We act as advocates for stroke families within the hospital and in the wider
community
- We perform fundraising activities to further our goals
How do we do these things?
- We have regular support meetings
- These provide the opportunity for parents to meet and talk to others,
informally, and in confidence.
- We provide a bi-annual newsletter
At our meetings we:
- Aim to learn something new and to talk about stroke
- Identify issues that we can discuss at future meetings according to
the members needs.
- Promote opportunities for all in the childhood stroke community to
participate in the ongoing development and improvement of the support
group.
- Actively seek input from particular groups e.g. rural families,
adolescents, CALD families, and community support organizations.
- Promote opportunities for partnership between consumers and hospital
staff.
- Ensure that outcomes are acknowledged and communicated to all.
Our Membership
Is made up of concerned families
And is supported by concerned professionals
Meetings
The group will decide on the timing of the meetings which will usually be held monthly.
