STROKE KIDS AT THE ROYAL CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL

How often have you heard an adult say something like, Life after a stroke is a real bitch and as a stroke survivor I will not be able to enjoy life again. WRONG, just look at the stroke survivors in this photo, this was taken at a social BBQ/meeting of the new StroKidz Support Group held at the Royal Children's Hospital on Sunday, 12th  November, 2006.

With the exception of the adult and one child, all others are stroke survivors. It was terrific to watch these kids play just like any other group of kids their age, and do you know what? Not once did I ever hear anyone one say, I'm too tired, I don't want to play, I can't do this or that. On the contrary, they had a go on all the playground equipment in the park and were playing for the full duration of the BBQ.

If you think that your disabilities are more severe than those of the kids, WRONG. Their disabilities are just the same as yours.

Stroke only affects older people. WRONG, the total age of all the stroke survivors in this photo would not exceed 40 years.

The next time that you think that you have been given a bad deal in life – get this picture out and just study it for a while.
