information, telephone support/counselling, referral and advocacy assistance
when required.

Encourage and assist the establishment and the development of Stroke Support Groups throughout Victoria.

Increase public awareness
of the damage that stroke causes.

of the ways in which stroke can be prevented.

Conduct community seminars for members and non-members on matters that concern stroke survivors and their carers.
Engage guest speakers to lecture / demonstrate on topics that affect the daily life and well being of
our members and for those who care.

Produce and distribute Stroke Information brochures.

Promote and
encourage rehabilitation of persons suffering stroke.

Regular visits to Stroke Wards, where permitted by the hospital management and
visits to other hospitals or patients on request

Provide Guest Speakers to various Community Groups
Encouragement
and friendship is extended to all who contact SAV. Survivors and Carers are invited and encouraged to become
members of a Support Group in their local area. If this is not what
you are looking for, you may still become a member of SAV and get support from the
Magazine each quarter or phone at any time for a chat.
