                    The Stroke Association of Victoria aims to help those affected by stroke.
   Services We Offer


       

    • Provide information, telephone support/counselling, referral and advocacy assistance when required.
    • Encourage and assist the establishment and the development of Stroke Support Groups throughout Victoria. 

    • Increase public awareness of the damage that stroke causes.

    • Increase knowledge of the ways in which stroke can be prevented.

    • Conduct community seminars for members and non-members on matters that concern stroke survivors and their carers. Engage guest speakers to lecture / demonstrate on topics that affect the daily life and well being of our members and for those who care.

    • Produce and distribute Stroke Information brochures.

    • Promote and encourage rehabilitation of persons suffering stroke.

    • Stroke Week - September each year.

    • Conduct an annual stroke seminar for community members.

    • Regular visits to Stroke Wards, where permitted by the hospital management and visits to other hospitals or patients on request

    • Quarterly Magazine - "Stroke Talk" magazine

    • Provide Guest Speakers to various Community Groups

    Encouragement and friendship is extended to all who contact SAV. Survivors and Carers are invited and encouraged to become members of a Support Group in their local area. If this is not what you are looking for, you may still become a member of SAV and get support from the Magazine each quarter or phone at any time for a chat.
