Our Barwon Stroke Support Centre is currently hosting a student for their student placement, Sa Blut. She is studying Certificate IV in Disability and loves to cook. Sa Blut wanted to share her love of cooking with our members and made an easy to follow video on how to make a traditional Karen “Dumpling Soup”.
The ingredients and method are outlined below the video, so you can follow the steps at your own pace.
Ingredients – for one serve
Spring onions | 2 |
Baby Pak Choy (not too big, not too small) | 1 |
Water | 2 ½ cups |
Salt | ¼ tsp |
Chicken stock | 1 tsp |
Fish sauce | ½ tsp |
Egg | 1 |
Sliced beef | 3-5 slices |
Dumplings | 6 pieces |
Method
- Chop two spring onions
- Wash the baby Pak Choy leaves
- Bring 2 ½ cups water to the boil
- Add ¼ teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon chicken stock and ½ teaspoon fish sauce to the boiling water
- Add baby Pak Choy
- Crack an egg into the boiling water
- Add sliced beef and dumplings and cook for around 3-5 minutes
- Once everything is cooked, add the chopped spring onions
- Transfer the soup to a bowl and add black pepper (optional)
- Enjoy!
