My biggest challenges were adapting to life with diminished concentration and my left arm paralysis, as well as learning how to manage constant fatigue and frustration after being so active pre-stroke. The most important factors in my recovery were my level of fitness before the stroke, love and support of family and close friends, help and understanding from members of the local stroke support group and my determination to improve. My ‘think positive’, ‘be patient’ and ‘never give up attitude’ helped me through my journey post-stroke, along with the understanding that rehabilitation is a life-long commitment
