With a reputation for strategic thinking and realistic approach John has had more than 40 year’s senior commercial experience in blue chip companies including National Foods, Simplot, Mars Confectionery, Masterfoods, Uncle Ben’s and Bowater Scott. He has held Executive General Manager Roles across a number of functional streams including Sales (all Channels), Marketing, Distribution and International and Domestic Business Development.
In addition he was General Manager of National Foods Milk Operation (Victoria) and on the Board of Management with Simplot, heading up the Shelf Stable Division with brands including Leggos, Edgell, and Plumrose.
John’s skills and expertise covers a number of channels including Grocery, Convenience, QSR, HORECA, Route, Catering, Institutional, Distributor, Special Events and other Foodservice Channels. Whilst he has had many successes and achievements in this time, from a Grocery perspective he led the team which achieved the biggest Housebrand Tender in FMCG, that being the inaugural Woolworths National Milk Contract in 2002. Most recently he led the strategy and implementation of the Warrnambool Cheese and Butter and Coles GREAT OCEAN ROAD Cheese and Milk initiative
Since founding Day Consulting he has consulted to a range of companies and government entities . These consultations have included End to End re-engineering of a full business model, Management and Facilitation of Acquisition Initiatives, the creation of a new Business Modelling from a Category, Channel and Manufacturer platform to full commercialisation, Channel Specific Solutions and Distribution/Way to Market modelling and Strategic, Insight, Activation and Training activities.
In addition, John was the President of the FIA (Foodservice Industry Australia) and Chairman of the FIA Awards Panel and a member and past Chairman of Advisory Boards in the FMCG space. John is also a Mentor with SBMS, and a Director at ShopAbility.
